This is a fun course where you can connect to nature through native skills and awareness. Learn within a supportive group of students and mentors. The Wild program is a series of classes that teaches participants about the 8 shields (seen below). It begins with Level 1 where students learn the basics of our unique approach to nature. From there students may take advanced WILD courses including Level 2, Tracking & Awareness, Advanced Survival Skills, or Wild Foods and Cooking. Open to all ages 18 & up.
Level 1 Overview:
- Naturalist Studies: plants, trees, birds, mammals,
reptiles, amphibians
- Core Routines of Native Awareness: practicing
techniques to increase awareness and knowledge of nature
- Games: we do like to have fun! Plus our wilderness
games can teach a lot about the animals, hiding, camouflage, and sensory awareness
- Wilderness Survival Skills: shelter, fire, water, food
- Navigation Techniques
- Stories from our Lineage: Where did these skills and
teachings come from? Who are the ones that came before?
Level 1 is where new participants begin with the WILD program. It meets twice per month for 7-hours on a Saturday and 3-hours on a friday, for 3 months. The next Level 1 course will begin in March TBA!

Spring Schedule coming soon! Level 1 Schedule:
We are not running the Wild Class this spring (2011) but instead are offering the
Nature-Connection Class
Location: Most often meets near Griffy Lake in Bloomington but we also meet
at other locations around Monroe County such as Hoosier National Forest,
Yellowwood State Forest, and Morgan-Monroe State Forest. If we are traveling to
one of these more distant locations we always meet in town to carpool.
We meet no matter what the weather is like!
Cost: $150 for a 3-month session (may be paid $50 per month due on the 1st of each month)
We are no longer accepting applications for this program. Look for a new Level 1 class to start-up in
March 2011
During times of heavy rain or
very cold weather we meet in
the yurt!
WARNING! You might
really enjoy this course...
We've had 6 students
attend Wild class for 3 or
more years because they
had such a great time!
