Wilderness Living Skills
A 3-day overnight workshop for adults.
May 18-20th, 2012
Workshop Description:

Learn and live outdoors for 3-days in this hands-on workshop. Practice skills of
basic human sustenance as you immerse yourself in the natural world through
native skills, games, activities, challenges, and stories.

These survival techniques are also a doorway to understanding patterns in
nature and living simply. The skills will come to life through demonstration and
hands-on practice in this unique field experience course. You will leave with
many new skills and see with new eyes for living and learning in nature.
Workshop Curriculum:

  • Shelter: the principles, materials, locations, and building survival shelters
  • Fire: one-match, bow drill, natural tender materials, natural rope
  • Water: hazards and concerns, finding and purifying
  • Cooking in the Wild
  • Wild Edible Plants: identification, preparations, uses
  • Processing an Animal
  • and more!
Workshop Details:

Location: The Lazy Black Bear in Paoli, IN

Date: May 18-20th, 2012

Time: arrive between 10-10:30am Friday, depart by noon on Sunday

Cost: $175 (includes camping, instruction, and materials but you must bring your
own food)
Previous participants may retake the class as a refresher course for 1/2 price!!

Lodging: You will have the option of tent camping for no extra charge or renting a
cabin bunk on-site. There are several small rustic cabins at the Lazy Black Bear
with 4 bunks in each. You may request to have your own cabin if you wish or share
with others.
The fee for renting a cabin bunk for the weekend (2 nights) is $20.
